Summer Assignment: Book challenge -- book one

Today is the day we begin reading our first book for the book challenge!
I'm super excited to announce the first book; we'll be reading Memoirs of a Geisha by Arther Golden. I thought this would be a good starting point since it seems like it will be an easier read, and there was quite a bit of interest in the book (at least that's what I've gathered from comments, phone calls and e-mails). The book has recieved quite a bit of buzz from reviews as well; here's hoping it's as entertaining of a read as its rumored to be.
There are also at least three other copies at the Grayslake library for those of you who are local; I assume the other libraries will have a few copies, too, as it is listed as a national bestseller.
My copy is a little more than 400 pages, so I'm shooting to finish about two and a half weeks from today.
I'll announce the second book a week from today, so comment about which one you'd like to read next! Happy reading!

  1. I checked out Memoirs of a Geisha last night from my library.

Can I say... Oh My Goodness...what a great read! I would have never read this book on my own if it were not for your book challenge.

Thanks for the read suggestion. I am so glad I did not pass up on this book.

Yes... I am finished reading it. I spent the day reading to the dismay of my household. What a luxury.

I love this book. I think I may check out the movie now.

I look forward to reading your review...I will add more of my review to my blog sometime this week.

There's nothing better than good conversation ... but not while talking to myself. Will you play a part in this discussion?

AND will you pretty please have your email linked to your account or leave it for me so I can respond?

Thanks for taking the time to make these thoughts into conversation.
