Everyday Life: Tomato, Tomahhto?

My dinner plans to make spinach chicken were foiled tonight after I discovered the spinach that came in our organic fruit and veggie box today was really arugula in disguise.

Hubs says: So did you cook up the arugula instead?
Me: No way! Arugula is disgusting. It's not like spinach.
Hubs: Sure it is after you cook it.
Me: Do you know what arugula tastes like? It's bitter and yucky and terrible and disgusting.
Hubs: Not when you saute it like you would the spinach.
Me: Huh?
Hubs: Yeah, all you need to do is saute it just like you do the spinach.
Me: No way. Can't be.
Hubs: I swear.
Me: Well, I'm not trying it and then ruining perfectly good chicken.
Hubs: Sigh.

So who knows about arugula? Seriously? Is there a major difference between spinach and arugula when both have been sauteed. Come on, fancy pants cooks and gardeners; come out of the hiding and answer this. I would really like to know. No, I NEED to know.

Thank you for listening.

I wish I was a fancy pants cook and could help you. I'll wait to see what your other "food savvy" followers say so I can learn something too!

Ok, so sauteed arugula is REALLY good. It's a little more peppery than spinach, but it is GOOD. Especially assuming you sautee it with garlic. You do sautee with garlic, right?

Try it with olive oil and salt on it while fresh. It's not bitter. Have you eaten while pregnant?

It's a fav in Italy. Maybe it's good with red sauce.

Yeah, sorry...gotta go w/ the hubs on this one: another vote FOR arugula.

Been thinking about this. Are you sure it's arugula? Maybe it's dandelion, which is very bitter?
