Everyday Life: If it's snowing cats and dogs ...

What's a mama to do when she has an antsy two year old ...
who has already played with all of his toys ...
twice ...
and watched six episodes of Curious George...
colored four pictures ...

played with play dough (yes, we sometimes wear the same outfit two days in a row!) ...
finished his flash cards ...
and played candy land ...
when it is absolutely frigid outside
and it just keeps snowing and snowing and snowing
and daddy took the car with four-wheel drive
and all that poor little two year old wants to do
is play outside in the freezing cold snow
or go swimming?

She gets inventive.
And turns the bathroom into a tropical island
complete with humidity,
fun, fruity drinks (Um, Orange juice with a little carbonation),

a rather large bucket (OK, so it was a cup)
and a warm waterfall (errrr shower)
in which that two year old can play
and pretend he is having an island adventure

while his baby brother basks in warmth on the sand (well, at least it's sand-colored!).

A little imagination goes a long way for all of us when we're house bound during a snowy day.

  1. Hang in there! I hear you! I had to laugh about the sand-colored carpet. I got so desperate one day, we played a fun game called rub this towel all over everything (at least the dusting got finished)!

  2. Awwww, that looks like fun. Me? I just make the wee ones go outside and play again. You should see Little Miss shoveling ;) I think I like your idea better though. Can I come play, too? It's COLD!

  3. Great idea! I'm sure he loved it AND he comes out clean! You both win.

  4. You are very imaginative! Good job keeping him busy and happy. I know it can be a challenge. Enjoy these times together :)

  5. A pretend tropical island is better than frostbit toes anyday.

  6. I love it! I read a quote once that when you have "crabs" put them in water! It never fails to cheer them up, although it was way more fun before we were paying for water ourselves!

I hear you on the weather (I think we actually live in the same town!) this winter is KILLING me, too cold, too much bad snow days I feel the cabin fever setting in and its only January! Have a great week!

There's nothing better than good conversation ... but not while talking to myself. Will you play a part in this discussion?

AND will you pretty please have your email linked to your account or leave it for me so I can respond?

Thanks for taking the time to make these thoughts into conversation.
