Chicago Moms Blog: In the wake of an erruption

Like hot lava brewing quietly inside of a seemingly dormant, harmless volcano, pieces of my father's life simmered inside large tubs, stacked high and deep and wide in his basement.

A month after his death, my sister and I set a morning date with my step mom to wade through our father's things. Like stepping up to the base of a mountain, I knew upon pulling into his driveway that we were entering a lovely but rugged land that would be harder to navigate and chart than we had first expected.

My entire story was published today at Chicago Moms Blog.

There's nothing better than good conversation ... but not while talking to myself. Will you play a part in this discussion?

AND will you pretty please have your email linked to your account or leave it for me so I can respond?

Thanks for taking the time to make these thoughts into conversation.
