Everyday Life: Quiet

In the quiet, in the stillness that sits heavy in my living room, 10:07 at night after a long Monday, I hear sounds I don't normally hear amid the chatter of two little boys, the clanking and clamouring, the movement and energy of everyday life. The leaves rustling through late winter wind outside the window. Small thumps against the floorboards as the heater kicks on. The soft hum of the fan whirling inside the refrigerator. The beating of my heart. His voice. Sounds that are always present but can't be heard until stillness settles over a home, a heart. In the quiet, in the stillness that sits heavy in my living room, 10:07 at night after a long Monday, clarity resonates. I soak in it, thankful for calm, peace and quiet. But, perhaps, equally grateful for the chatter, the cacophany of life that will errupt once again in the morning. lt;center>so much shouting, so much laughter
