Five-Minute Friday: Risk

I think you say jump.

And instead of asking how high

I find myself frozen

asking for a fiery bush

or billboard

or email

with those simple words

or bolded

or line-addressed

to my name:

But in the quiet recesses of my heart

when I still myself from thought-questions

and thought-distractions

I hear you loud and clear.

I hear you in the details you've already taken care of

in the affirmations

in the revelations of grace-mercy you've given

in the very word you spoke centuries ago

"Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.” - Jeremiah 1
I'm no prophet.

But you've given me the same promise.

That if I jump

when you say

trust replaces risk

and there will be cushion in the landing.
Five Minute Friday

  1. How beautiful. It never ceases to amaze me that a one word prompt can yield so many different (and yet so absolutely right) answers to a simple question. I loved the journey your writing took me on, and for that I thank you. So glad I landed behind you on today's 5 Minute Friday.
    Peace and good.

  2. Love this! So much shows our relationship with God in each task He gives us.

  3. Trust replaces risk- love that! Thanks for a great post!!!

  4. Oh this beautiful stream of consciousness - just love it - caught up in the flow and the rhythm of the words.

    Thank you for sharing!

  5. I love the trust replaces risk part. So true. Yet I still find myself asking why, how instead of yes.

  6. I love the flow of all the thoughts on this Five Minute Friday RISK topic...I love your words,
"I hear you loud and clear. I hear you in the details you've already taken care of..." and I hear echoes of scripture...remember, remember, remember what the Lord your God has done...

I also am reminded of words from a Carolyn Arends' song: I was hoping you would write to me a letter in the stars as if the stars themselves were not enough...

    God bless your weekend!

  7. Awesome, awesome post, Hyacynth. Beautiful. Yes, "trust replaces risk." Praying for His boldness to risk!

  8. I don't listen as I should and only leap when I should jump. I know this and I'm saddened by this and I know I can change, but there is always a ... but. And I know that makes me weak, and I try not to be comforted too much by His ways to always carry me, but I am. Does any of this make sense?

There's nothing better than good conversation ... but not while talking to myself. Will you play a part in this discussion?

AND will you pretty please have your email linked to your account or leave it for me so I can respond?

Thanks for taking the time to make these thoughts into conversation.
